Dutch Penis Blooms After 13 Years
LEIDEN, Netherlands --- After more than a decade,
the Penis Plant has finally bloomed in the Netherlands.
The flower is also known as the Corpse Flower and
has a two-meter high phallus-like pod, or spadix.
Originally from Sumatra, the Amorphophallus Tiatnum
is one of the rarest species in the world and smells
like a mixture of rotting fish and meat. The Penis
Plant has a very short bloom time of less than one
day during which it uses its smell to attract pollinating
insects.
